MEMBERSHIP

Membership in GFOA of New Jersey is open to all public officials regularly engaged in the area of governmental finance. Each regular member present at the Annual Meeting shall be entitled to one vote. GFOA of New Jersey members form a diverse group of individuals, from entry-level employees to senior managers, who work for a broad range of governments, including cities, towns, and other municipalities of all sizes; county governments; school districts and special districts; public employee retirement systems; states and provinces; schools of administration and public affairs; libraries; federal agencies; and accounting firms, law firms, investment banks, and consulting institutions.

 

MEMBERSHIP SERVICES:

GFOA of New Jersey's members regularly take advantage of the following association programs, services, and activities to strengthen their professional skills and keep up-to-date on developments in their field:

  • Training: More than 30 CEU's are offered at seminars throughout the year, including teleconferences, live one day, League of Municipalities Conference and our Annual Fall Conference.
  • Annual Conference: Over 600 attendees gather each year for this two-and-one-half day professional meeting.
  • Scholarships: The association sponsors scholarships to recognize outstanding undergraduate and graduate students in public finance.

  • Technical Inquiry Services: Members may contact the GFOA of New Jersey office with technical questions about financial management topics.
  • Newsletter: GFOA of New Jersey publishes a quarterly newsletter with pertinent articles on cash management; accounting, auditing, and financial reporting; and pension and benefit issues.

 

MEMBERSHIP LEVELS AND ANNUAL DUES:

Regular Membership - $90.00

May be granted to all public officials regularly engaged in the area of governmental finance.  Each regular member present at the Annual Meeting shall be entitled to one vote. 

Associate Membership - $140.00

May be granted to persons engaged in providing services or products necessary to the financial management of governmental jurisdictions.  Such members shall have all rights and privileges in the Association except to hold office or be entitled to vote.

Retired Membership - $5.00

May be granted to all regular members who have retired or spouses of deceased regular members.  Such members shall have all rights and privileges in the Association except to hold office or be entitled to vote.  A member is considered retired if they collect a State pension.  

Student Membership - $5.00

May be granted to all students, full or part-time, currently matriculating in a course leading to a degree in accounting, finance, or any related field and not qualifying in any of the other membership categories.  

 

*Annual dues for each level of membership shall be established by the Executive Board.  Any change to the existing structure shall be presented to the membership at the Annual Meeting for approval or disapproval by majority vote.  Annual dues shall be payable on application for membership and as of January 1 in each year thereafter.
