GFOA of N.J. Awards Four Scholarships for 2013

On April 19, 2013, the Government Finance Office of New Jersey (GFOA of N.J.) presented scholarships to four select candidates during its Spring Mini-Conference in New Brunswick at the Rutgers University Labor Education Center. Russell R. Forenza, Chair of the Scholarship Committee, presented the annual GFOA of N.J. Scholarships to students deserving of financial assistance as they pursue their endeavors into higher education.

The Scholarship Committee was proud to announce the awarding of the 2013 GFOA of N.J. scholarships to four outstanding students - Emily S. Favaro, Justine E. Cillo, Jessica A. Cillo, and James Pittaro. Each candidate exhibited high achievement in their studies, accompanied by excellent references. The Association was happy to award $1,500 to each of our winners to help them realize their scholastic goals.

Although many of the applicants were deserving of an award, the four individuals were selected based upon their financial situations and scholastic achievements.

The purpose of the GFOA of N.J.’s Scholarship is to encourage and promote the advancement of education in order to aid students to achieve their future goals and aspirations by providing scholarships and other assistance in institutions of higher learning to children of deceased or disabled persons who have worked in government in the State of New Jersey.
